Google Maps Rankings Are Built on Relevance, Proximity, and Content
Your Google Business Profile tells Google where you are. Your content tells Google what you do — and where you do it. Without geo-targeted pages for every area you serve, you're invisible to every searcher outside your front door. We fix that with content Google ranks and customers read.

Free Local Content Audit — 24hr Turnaround
We'll show you which areas you're invisible in, which keywords you're missing, and what content is needed to rank across your full service area.
Google Maps Rank Is Radius-Based. Your Content Extends That Radius.
A well-optimised Google Business Profile makes you visible to searchers near your physical location. But what about the customer 4 miles away in the next suburb, or the business owner in a neighbouring town? Without content targeting those specific areas, Google has no reason to show you to them.
Geo-targeted landing pages solve this. Each page is a standalone local signal — "emergency plumber Oadby", "accountant Hinckley", "loft conversion Leeds city centre" — that tells Google you serve that area, you know that area, and you're relevant to searchers in that area. The more coverage you have, the larger your effective local footprint.
Done properly, it's one of the most durable ranking tactics in local SEO. Done badly — thin, templated pages that swap a city name and nothing else — it gets you penalised. We do it properly.
GBP Alone vs. GBP + Geo Content
Visible to searchers within ~1–2 miles of your business address. Everything beyond that radius is invisible.
Visible across every town and suburb with a dedicated page — your ranking footprint expands with every page we publish.
Why Most Local Pages Don't Rank — and Some Get You Penalised
Geo-targeted content is one of the most abused tactics in local SEO. Here's what separates the content that ranks from the content that hurts you.
City-swap templates
Pages that are 95% identical with only the city name changed. Google's Helpful Content system detects and deindexes these — often dragging the whole site's authority down with them. We've seen businesses lose all their rankings from template city page campaigns.
AI-generated bulk content
Producing 50 city pages overnight with an AI tool creates pages that read as machine-generated, lack genuine local context, and don't pass Google's quality threshold. Volume without substance is worthless.
No internal linking strategy
A city page published in isolation, with no links from the homepage, no links from related service pages, and no links from other city pages, gets no authority passed to it. It's an island Google doesn't visit.
Missing schema markup
Local landing pages without LocalBusiness schema, FAQ schema, or service schema are leaving rich result opportunities on the table. Schema tells Google exactly what the page is, who it's for, and where it's relevant.
Three Types of Geo Content — Each One Ranking for Something Different
Each content type serves a distinct purpose in your local ranking strategy. We build all three, working to a monthly content schedule agreed with you.
City & Suburb Landing Pages
Individual pages targeting each town, suburb, or postcode you serve. Each page is genuinely unique — different local context, different suburb-specific keywords, different FAQs relevant to that area. Not a template with a city name swapped.
- "Emergency plumber Oadby" — targeting LE2 searches with Oadby-specific content
- "Accountant Hinckley" — covering LE10 with local business community context
- "House extension builder Harrogate" — including local planning context
- Minimum 600 words of genuinely unique content per page
- LocalBusiness schema markup
- FAQ section with area-specific questions
- Internal links to and from related pages
Service + Location Pages
Pages combining a specific service with a specific location — "boiler repair Leeds", "conveyancing solicitor Bristol", "kitchen extension Harrogate". These target the highest-intent local searches and typically convert better than generic service pages.
- "Boiler repair Leeds" — targeting emergency and planned boiler searches in LS postcodes
- "Dental implants Bristol" — targeting high-value treatment searches in BS postcodes
- Service-specific content + local context
- Service schema markup
- Local price and availability signals
- Linked from main service page and city page
Local Blog Posts
Long-form content targeting informational searches your future customers make while researching — "how much does a loft conversion cost in Leeds?", "do I need a gas safe engineer for a boiler service?". Informational content builds authority and feeds it to your service pages.
- "House extension costs in Bristol 2025 — what to budget"
- "How to find a good local accountant in Manchester"
- 1,000–1,500 words per post
- FAQ schema for rich result targeting
- Internal links to service and city pages
- Written by humans — no AI bulk output
Content That Ranks — Built to a System
Every piece of content we produce follows the same process — research, structure, write, optimise, publish, monitor.
Keyword & Location Research
We identify every location you serve and every service term your customers search. We map which combinations have real search volume, which have low competition, and which to prioritise first. You get the most impactful pages built earliest.
Week 1Content Brief & Structure
For each page, we build a brief covering: primary keyword, secondary keywords, local context to include (landmarks, postcodes, local knowledge), FAQ questions, internal linking targets, and schema type. The brief is the plan — writing happens to the brief, not around it.
Week 2Human Writing & Review
Pages are written by specialist UK copywriters — not AI tools. Each one is genuinely unique, locally contextualised, and written for both Google and the human reading it. We send it to you for approval before publishing.
Week 2–3Publish, Schema & Internal Links
Once approved, we publish the page, add LocalBusiness and FAQ schema markup, and build the internal link structure — from your homepage, existing service pages, and related city pages. The page is live and signalling to Google within 48 hours.
Week 3–4Rank Tracking & Monthly Updates
Every page is tracked in our rank monitoring system. As it climbs, we update it — adding new FAQs, refreshing local context, adjusting keyword density where needed. Pages that rank need maintenance to stay there.
OngoingGeo-Targeted Content — Your Questions
Only if the pages are thin, duplicated, or clearly machine-generated. Google's Helpful Content guidelines penalise content that exists purely to manipulate rankings without providing value. Pages built properly — genuinely unique, locally contextualised, useful to the reader — are not just safe, they're exactly what Google wants to rank. The distinction is effort and substance, not quantity.
Start with the areas that have genuine search volume and where you actually work. For most local businesses, 5–12 well-built city or suburb pages covers the service area effectively. We build them in priority order — highest search volume and lowest existing competition first — so every page produces a return before we move to the next one. We never build for volume; we build for results.
Yes — landing pages live on your website. If you don't have one, or your current site can't host new pages easily, we'll advise on the quickest path to getting a suitable site in place. In many cases, a simple 5–10 page site built for local SEO outperforms an elaborate site that isn't structured correctly for local search.
For a new domain or a site with low authority: 60–120 days. For an established domain with existing authority: 30–60 days. Pages targeting lower-competition suburbs rank faster than pages targeting major cities. We prioritise the pages most likely to rank quickly first, so you see returns while the longer-tail rankings are still building.
We write everything. All we need from you is a quick confirmation of the areas you serve and any local knowledge worth including — specific landmarks, the type of customers in each area, any notable projects. We do the keyword research, the writing, the schema markup, and the publishing. You review and approve before anything goes live.
