Core Service — Rank & Call Tracking

SEO Without Tracking Is Just Spending Money and Hoping

Most agencies send you a PDF with traffic graphs and a list of keywords you've never heard of. We track what actually matters to your business: how many calls came from Google, how many people clicked for directions, where you rank across your full service area, and how that compares to last month. Plain English. Every time.

The Problem

Why Most SEO Reports Tell You Nothing Useful

You're paying £500–£1,000 a month and getting a report full of terms like "domain authority", "organic sessions", and "keyword impressions". None of it answers the question you actually care about: is this bringing me more customers?

Traffic going up doesn't mean calls are going up. Rankings improving doesn't mean the right people are finding you. A metric that can't be connected to revenue is a vanity metric — and most agency reports are full of them.

We built our reporting around one principle: every number in your monthly report should either tell you something is working or tell you something needs fixing. If it doesn't do one of those two things, it's not in the report.

What most agencies send
  • Domain authority: 18 → 19
  • Organic sessions: 142 (+12%)
  • Keyword impressions: 4,200
  • Bounce rate: 68%
  • Pages indexed: 24

None of this tells you if you're getting more customers.

What we send
  • Calls from Google Maps: 34 (+11 vs last month)
  • Direction requests: 18 (+6)
  • Profile views: 1,240 (+22%)
  • Ranking: #2 for "plumber Leicester" (was #5)
  • Competitor gap: you now have more reviews than #1

Every number connects directly to business outcomes.

What We Track

The Metrics That Actually Matter

Six numbers. All of them tied directly to revenue or ranking position. Nothing else.

Calls from Google

A dedicated tracking number sits on your GBP and website. Every call from Google Maps or organic search is logged — date, time, duration, and whether it was answered. This is the single most important number we report.

Most Important

Direction Requests

How many people clicked "Get Directions" from your Google Maps listing. High direction requests mean people are physically coming to you — a strong signal for service businesses with a physical location.

Local Search Grid Rankings

We map your ranking position across a grid of postcodes surrounding your business — not just one central position. You see exactly where you rank, where you're invisible, and where the opportunity is.

Keyword Rankings

Where you rank for each target keyword — your primary service term, all suburb variations, and service-specific terms. Tracked weekly and reported monthly with trend direction for each.

Competitor Comparison

Where you stand vs. the top 3 businesses currently outranking you — their review count, their ranking positions, and whether you're closing the gap or falling behind. Updated every month.

Review Velocity

How many new Google reviews you received this month, your current star rating, and how your review volume compares to competitors. Review momentum is a direct ranking input — we track it closely.

Local Visibility Grid

See Exactly Where You Rank — Postcode by Postcode

A single ranking position tells you nothing. Google shows different results to different people based on their location. The grid shows you the full picture.

A local search visibility grid places a matrix of points across your service area — typically a 5×5 or 7×7 grid of GPS coordinates — and checks your Google Maps ranking from each one. The result is a colour-coded map showing where you're top 3, where you're on page 1 but not in the pack, and where you're invisible entirely.

This matters because a competitor 1.5 miles away from your business may outrank you in their direction but not in yours. Without a grid, you'd never know the shape of your visibility — and you'd have no way to measure whether it's growing or shrinking month by month.

Ranking #1–3 — in the Map Pack
Ranking #4–10 — page 1 but below the pack
Ranking #11–20 — page 2, effectively invisible
Not ranking — no presence detected

Monthly Reporting

A Report You'll Actually Read

Short, structured, and written in plain English. No login required. Arrives on the same date every month.

01

This Month at a Glance

Calls from Google, direction requests, profile views, and new reviews — compared to last month. Three sentences of context explaining the movement. Nothing more.

02

Ranking Positions

Your current rank for every target keyword — with an arrow showing movement since last month. Up, down, or flat. No keyword jargon — just the terms your customers actually search.

03

Local Grid Map

Your 5×5 or 7×7 visibility grid — colour-coded, with a comparison to last month's grid so you can see exactly how your footprint is expanding.

04

Competitor Snapshot

Where you stand vs. the top 3 businesses in your area — review counts, star ratings, and ranking positions. Are you closing the gap or being left behind? Answered in one table.

05

Work Completed This Month

Every task we carried out — GBP posts published, citations fixed, pages built, links acquired, reviews responded to. You see exactly what was done and can hold us accountable for it.

06

Next Month's Focus

What we're doing next month and why — the specific ranking gap or opportunity we're targeting. Not a generic plan; a specific action tied to a specific outcome.

FAQs

Rank & Call Tracking — Your Questions

No. The tracking number forwards instantly and silently to your regular business number. From the customer's perspective, they're dialling your number and you're answering. The only difference is that the call is logged in our system before being connected — adding less than a second of processing time.

No — and this is intentional. Dashboards require time and knowledge to interpret. We compile everything into a plain-English PDF that arrives in your inbox once a month. If you want access to a live dashboard as well, we can set one up — but most clients tell us the monthly report is all they need. It's built to be read in 5 minutes.

The tracking number is provisioned under your account — you own it. If you stop working with us, you keep the number and can redirect it yourself. We don't hold your data or your tracking infrastructure hostage when a client relationship ends.

Standard rank tracking gives you one position for a keyword — usually checked from a single location. That's misleading for local search, because Google shows different results to different people based on their physical location. Someone in Oadby searching "plumber near me" sees different results from someone in Wigston. The grid checks your position from 25 or 49 different GPS coordinates simultaneously, giving you an accurate picture of your visibility across the whole service area — not just from one point.

Yes. Call tracking and rank reporting are available as a standalone service if you're running SEO elsewhere and want objective measurement. It's particularly useful for businesses that have been told "your SEO is improving" by an agency but have no way to verify whether that translates to actual calls. We'll tell you the truth about what's happening.
